COMPVIEW, INC. ANNOUNCES SPIN-OFF OF COMPVIEW MEDICAL TO FOCUS ON AUDIO-VISUAL SYSTEMS FOR MEDICAL ENVIRONMENTS
New Company to Offer Integrated Operating Room Solutions Unlike Any on Today’s Market
BEAVERTON, ORE. – March 21, 2005 – CompView Inc., a premier provider of presentation technology and group communication solutions, today announced a spin-off of the company’s portfolio of audio-visual systems for medical environments into a newly created, wholly owned subsidiary company called CompView Medical. Built upon its parent company’s nearly 20-year legacy of innovation and technology expertise, the independent company is poised to capture growth projected within the medical industry by offering integrated operating room solutions unlike any on today’s market.
The emergence of endoscopic surgery has fueled an evolution in operating room design. In fact, the U.S. market for integrated operating rooms was over $100M in 2003 and is estimated to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of 18 percent until 2008, according to Millennium Research Group. CompView Medical’s proprietary technology solutions enable hospitals to convert existing operating room facilities to a state-of-the-art digital environment, faster, more easily and at less cost than any current alternatives.
Recognizing the need for a more user-friendly and cost effective control system in the operating room, the company spent two years developing its premier product, Digital Operating Control System (DOCS), a state-of-the-art integrated audio, video, communication and control system designed specifically for the surgical environment that provides centralized control and communication capability.
“CompView Medical is creating an operating room of the future today,” said Paul White, founder and president of CompView Medical. “As evidenced by the successful installation near completion at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Oregon, the DOCS suite brings significant benefits to surgeons, peri-operative nurses, hospital administrators and patients. DOCS is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to CompView Medical’s vision for breakthrough technological innovation in the operating room.”
CompView Medical’s technology permits hospitals to achieve faster turnover between cases, shorter surgery times, more accurate capture of information and, ultimately, improve the overall level of patient care. Specifically, the systems connect and transfer critical data from the operating room to a centralized hub from which it can be accessed anytime and anywhere for patient education, healthcare provider notification or referring physician inquiries.
“CompView Medical is destined to lead the operating room into the digital age,” according to
Dr. Michael Savitt, a cardiothoracic surgeon in the Starr-Wood Cardiac Group. “Its technology expertise far exceeds that of its competitors and its solutions are more intuitive and user-friendly than any I have seen on today’s market. CompView Medical is an invaluable new addition to the healthcare industry”
Additional innovations and product releases are due for release in the coming months, starting with the AORN Congress in New Orleans, April 4-8. For more information about CompView Medical, please visit the company’s
