No, we actually use your existing light structure and work around it, which reduces the cost and allows you to upgrade your existing lights whenever you want.
What Options are available with the NuBOOM?
Due to our open architecture, the NuBOOM system is customizable. The following are our standard options: Additional 19" monitors on boom (up to 6 total), additional monitor on anesthesia cabinet side, boom and composite video connection on boom ends, remote touch panel kit for mounting, foot pedal basket storage kit, IV pole (25" tall), network connection, and additional external shelving or adjustability for positioning on either side of cabinet.
Where does the power plug into the NuBOOM?
There are two 20 amp, 120 volt circuits that come through a three inch chase, extending from the top of the NuBOOM cabinet to the ceiling. The chase also runs with the 4M computer and network wiring.
How long does the system take to install?
The NuBOOM and DOCS system generally installs in two days or less dependant upon the facility.
What are the advantages to installing a NuBOOM compared to carts or ceiling mounted booms?
The advantages to the NuBOOM compared to carts are numerous:
Flexibility. NuBOOM installs easily in rooms with sub 9' ceilings with no construction required to reinforce ceilings, as with ceiling mounted booms. As the only floor mounted boom system, NuBOOM can easily be relocated at any time.
Efficiency. NuBOOM installs in less than 2 days, resulting in little impact to case load schedules, compared to ceiling mounted booms' 3-4 month OR down time to build in the ceiling structure.
Risk Management. By consolidating equipment in the NuBOOM cabinet, cords are removed from the floor, thus reducing trip hazards. Another advantage is the reduction in infection control issues, being floor mounted and therefore does not disturb the ceiling.
Improved ergonomics. NuBOOM is the only single system that provides up to 6 monitors, in 6-axis positioning, for more accurate placement, promoting surgeon comfort by reducing neck and shoulder pain.
Simplicity. NuBOOM's easy positioning and simple touch screen DOCS - Digital Operating Control System, simplifies the time of setup and adjustability during cases.
Does an architect need to be involved in the process and what does facilities have to do to get the room ready to install a NuBOOM?
An architect doesn't have to be involved in the installation of a NuBOOM even if it is new construction. The system fits in rooms as small as 360 sq. ft. with sub 9 foot ceilings and is simply bolted to the floor.
CompView Medical provides all the wiring for all NuBOOM components and Perfect PlacementTM. However, all electrical and conduit runs and drilling and bolting of the system is managed by customer facilities. The total facilities cost generally comes to an average of four thousand dollars.
Does the NuBOOM work with my existing equipment or do I have to buy specific brands?
You can use all of your existing equipment and simply place it on the shelving inside of the NuBOOM and then plug it in to our system. The NuBOOM has an open architecture, which allows any brand product to function with our system, allowing you to do future upgrades with little to no adjustments in your NuBOOM. During a pre-consultation process, customization is made to accommodate for necessary inputs.
What training or in-service is provided if I purchase one of the NuBOOMS?
The DOCS- digital operating control system software which runs all of the routing and switching inside the NuBOOM is very user friendly and easy to learn. We provide a full three-day in-service with the staff to make sure everyone understands how easy the software and the hardware is to use.
The NuBOOM, boom, arm and monitor positioning is also demonstrated in relation to setup and procedure specific needs, to show the ease of positioning.
If we install a NuBOOM now can it be relocated at a later time?
Yes, another advantage to the floor mounted system is the ability to easily relocate NuBOOM. Compview Medical will facilitate the transfer of the unit, generally in the same 2 day time frame as the initial install (dependent upon logistics of new location).
Can the surgeon control the equipment through voice activation?
No. While we may incorporate this in the future, there are currently disadvantages to this technology. We have found that optimizing the core area around the patient through proper equipment management, thus removing hazards from the floor area, provides practical, simplified enhancement.
Can you provide lights and gases?
NuBOOM is designed to work with your existing lights and gases. As well, because NuBOOM is not ceiling mounted, lights can easily be changed or upgraded after installation of NuBOOM.
